I don't know why Sony puts such poor zoom controls on
their "lower" models - they obviously know how it "should"
be done - the VX2000 zoom is very easy to control, with
its large rocker switch with good "spacing" between
speeds. Most of the new one-chippers make "crash"
zooming easy, but smooth, slow zooms are nearly impossible
(though the upright, "PC" designs seem to have better
little zoom controls than the horizontal models...).
