It would appear to me that, "Looks like I've got a pixel out

different systems, I can see a single pixel that is white no matter
what the rest of the picture is.", should be sufficient to
identify the problem well enough - but including a jpg still
image shot on memory stick (could put it on a floppy, if
mailing, or attached to email) should also show the problem.
If the camera is returnable (reputable dealers allow
exchanges/refunds within a short time), try that. BTW, most
Sony camcorders will show 2-3 white pixels at +18db and 1/4
and 1/8th second shutter speeds, but not at 1/15th or above
(when going toward slower speeds - but the ones that appear
atslow speeds may still be visible as you go toward higher
speeds, disappearing at 1/30th or 1/60th).
