The LCD panel brightness, TV brightness, and computer
display brightness are all variable, with no standards.
Start with the TV, adjusting it to look most correct
with the widest range of channels. Next, hook the
camera up to it directly, and adjust the finder
brightnesses to best match the TV view while pointing
the camera around the room in auto exposure mode
(likely reasonably correct for most things...). Next,
either accept the fact that most PC monitors are set
too dark, or adjust it to look best with the FireWire
transferred video image (likely to leave the monitor
a bit too light/flat for most purposes, though...).
BTW, the USB cable is only for transfer of low-res
video or the stills - use FireWire for full-res
transfer of video...
