An alternative to the DV500, for budget work,
is the VX2000. The picture is about as good,
and the price is around $2400. A little more
gets you a long run-time battery, an excellent
WA lens converter, a UV filter, and an acceptable
shotgun or wireless mic. The Mini-DV medium isn't
perfect, but in terms of color, noise, resolution,
and generation losses, it can beat SVHS easily...
