>Hi. I have a question about Sony DV cams. I am looking at the TRV-18
>(680,000 pixels) versus the TRV25 and TRV27 (megapixel).

You may want to do a search at www.google.com on
"understanding resolution" and "video resolution",
or look through recent posts in rec.video.production.
There has been a lot written on this recently...
The quick basics: the CCD resolution affects the
video "format" sharpness and color, but does not
change its "inherent resolution limits"; when viewed
on TVs or other monitor types, the format prevails
in terms of resolution limits and image size (if
that is relevant, as with computer monitors...).
Or, there are four stages involving "resolution",
which causes the confusion: the lens, the CCD +
associated electronics, the video format, and the
viewing device (and there can be more, like
intervening copy device characteristics, codec
characteristics, etc....;-) Bottom line: get
the TRV25/27 - you will be happy. ;-)
