Many current UDMA-type drives work fine for mini-DV capture and
playback without requiring RAID. It seems to me the relatively
low cost of these EIDE drives in large sizes is a good reason for
using the mini-DV format within the editing computer, even if the
source material is not mini-DV (an inexpensive "S"-DV converter
will be available from Sony soon...).
