Only one way for this to work really well: shoot
full normal exposure for both ambient light and flash;
the two together will essentially double the effective
film speed - though most of the time, I *downrate*
color negative film speeds by about 2/3rd stop to give
the emulsion full 3-color exposure when shooting in
other than daylight-balanced light, and to accommodate
the occasional exposure error, white wall, etc.
Considerable overexposure does not hurt color negative
images, but some underexposure can result in larger grain,
weaker color, and color errors in the lower tones...
As others have pointed out, Fuji Press 800 is a good
film (I also like Kodak 800 Max) for shooting in low
light.
