Getting clean titles in DV is not easy, but
you can do well enough with the Premiere titler by
avoiding troublesome colors (orange, red, purple,
and pure white) and using ones that work well (medium
green and blue, pure and light yellows, and light
greys). Edge the titles in black by applying a sharp
narrow shadow in at least two opposite directions.
Try to use fonts and styles without thin letter
sections, and with minimum straight horizontal letter
parts (using "flicker removal" helps reduce horizontal
line flickering). Make the titles as large as practical.
The titles look worst over motion-video (though it can
be done), best over plain black... You can also import
title panels from drawing programs and photo editors,
and there are also titling programs that produce
better results than the Premiere titler (I like Ulead's
CG-Infinity - if you import the motion-video clip into
it, it produces very clean keying of the titles over
motion-video).
