The flash coverage of the SB24 does not abruptly end
at the edges, but softly rolls off. This has two
advantages: the SB24 will cover the 20mm lens fairly
well; the SB24 can be raised or angled some to
"feather off" its illumination - I have been able
to evenly light deep rooms doing this (impossible with
flashes that "break" sharply), which is why I continue
to use this flash. BTW, my tests show that the SB25
and SB28, with wider rated coverage, are not as even
over the 20mm area as the SB24. I will keep three of
these, with a pair of SB28's used when weight/size
are an issue (as when using two flashes on a bar
above the camera...). Also BTW, you can broaden the
light of the SB24 to cover even a fisheye by turning
the head upward and popping a white Styrofoam cup on
top...;-) An example of the "shaded light" with
angling the SB-24 is at:
www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/wedding5.html, last
image - this interior was VERY dark (almost too dark
to see in), with no bounce possibility - I exposed
enough to show the light sources, but the
illumination is entirely from one on-camera SB-24...).
