?????????????
I generally buy my VHS movie tapes as "previewed"
from video stores - and some are quite old. Unless
someone has played one on a damaged machine, rarely
are there any problems (and I have stopped checking
them before storage...). VHS tape is a durable medium,
if stored and used with reasonable care. CDs may also
be - but handled the way I often see them handled,
collected scratches can eventually make the disks
unplayable (but damaged tape generally remains
playable).
