I hate neck straps of all sorts. My solution is a wrist strap made from
a shoe lace (with a loop tied along it just large enough to pass my hand).
When the camera is being used, it is in hand and secured by the strap.
When it is not in use, it is in a small camera bag, and out of my way
(and not bouncing against me as I walk, or about to slip off a shoulder).
For the bag, I prefer the crossing type strap described above (anything
else is just too insecurely attached to me for comfort).
