A common problem with the Nikkor 55mm f2.8 is
oil on the diaphram blades, which causes them
to stick and not operate. If this is the
problem, about $75-80 is normal for repair
in the US. It is an excellent close-focusing
reasonably fast "normal" lens - if the price
is low, and the condition is otherwise good,
it may be worth the trouble (compare the
total, including shipping, with the price
of a better used lens, see if the difference
in total price is worth the bother and time).
