If you happen to be using the Raptor card (and 32-bit
graphics display), the transition set "Soft Xplode"
includes an incredibly useful "Alpha Wipe" that can
be configured to give a very wide variety of soft-edged
wipes and irises. Ulead Media Studio Pro comes with a
soft-edged wipe transition, one reason I kept it around
for a while (until the SX set). Try the "gradient wipe",
though - it may do what you want...
