I find a good way to expose snow scenes with transparency film is to
meter only the snow, but in the general direction of the photo to be taken, and open up 1 1/2 stops on a grey day, and 1 2/3 stops on a
sunny day from the straight snow reading (to move the grey snow
exposure up to a light grey-white value).
