All else being equal, a reduction in CCD size would result
in a lessening in the low-light range the camera can shoot
in, and if the lens remains the same, in a narrowing of the
angle of view at the "wide" end of the zoom range (these
zooms are never really wide-angle to begin with...).
There are no "+'s" to CCD size-reduction except possibly
in price...
