For straight cuts and simple (short) cross-dissolves
with Mini-DV, most any simple (or better) editing
program will be essentially "real-time" (only short
rendering times needed for the transitions...).
Canopus Raptor comes with Premiere (full-featured, if
needed later), for about $450, and it is reliable, easy
to install, and has an excellent codec (fast-rendering
and high-quality, for those complex multi-level things
you will probably get into later...;-). Canopus EZDV(?)
may be cheaper, and is simpler if you know you will never
go for the fancy stuff in editing...
