If the silica gel is loose crystals, you can heat it in a sauce pan with constant stirring (or you can heat it on a tray in the oven) until it turns
blue. Generally around here, uncontained silica gel becomes saturated
within a few hours and becomes pink - it is useful only for a short time, unless enough of it is sealed in a small space with whatever you want to dry.
