Question about camera noise pickup when mounting a
Stenheiser short-shotgun mic on the Sony VX-1000
shoe... In answer, it happens to me, too (and it
can also be caused by the good pickup of the camera
noise reflected off nearby hard surfaces the mic
is pointed at - and it is most noticeable with
headphone monitoring, less on the actual track...).
One solution for near field noise pickup: an
accessory shoe "tree" from Elite Video, which can
be used to raise the mic several inches (and to
mount "stereo" shotguns...;-). This solution also
helps to keep the long mic out of the field of view
of wide-angle attachments...
