Since the meter gives exposure advice that renders everything
as a medium tone, regardless of what is in front of it, the best
way for me to shoot snow scenes is to use the camera in manual mode,
aim the meter in the general direction of the scene, but include only
snow in the meter area. Open up about 1 1/2 to 1 2/3 stops from the
meter reading to render the snow near-white with slide film. You
may want to open two stops with color negative materials.
