The VX-1000 does use 52mm-thread filters and accessories,
but it also has (as do some other camcorders) an outer
bayonet. I would return the shade, since you will not
be able to adapt it easily. Cheap collapsing rubber shades
can work well, as can generic metal 52mm-thread shades, but
be sure with these that they will not vignette (cut corners)
on the image by zooming to the shortest end, turning on the
stabilizer, and moving the camera back and forth in both
diagonal directions while looking in the finder for momentary
corner shading.
