Ring lights are very particular devices - you may not like the totally
flat lighting (for close-ups - there isn't generally enough power for much else). You may want to try using a bracket, small ball head, and
a flash shoe with a tripod socket to place (if you already have a
flash) the flash head next to the end of your lens (with the flash pointed at the subject). You will soon discover that you miss the wonders of TTL flash metering, if doing macro work, but some experience and carefull note-taking with different combinations of lenses, focus, and apertures used can get you good and reliable exposures.
