As another pointed out, Cool Edit (and probably SF and
others) have utilities that can correct (fairly well)
moderate clipping. If you have the patience and there
are only a few areas of clipping, you can go to almost
the single-cycle level and apply local filtering or
even an envelope on a clipped cycle (or maybe my
imagination is overwhelming memory of the lengths I
used to go to to correct mistakes...;-). But, yes, you
can make the clipped parts sound better, if not perfect,
with enough effort...
