You can use AE-A and dial in the widest stop available
(using the built-in ND filters, if desireable/necessary).
Either using the longest FL in the zoom range and/or
moving as close as possible to the subject will also
change the appearance of DOF.
Using a close-up lens of a power sufficient to allow
infinity-focus at the short end of the zoom range
(only) may also widen the widest aperture available
(you won't see it in the aperture numbers, though...).
