TV as we know it now is an interlaced medium - the sharpest
motion-video images for TV will be shot in interlaced mode,
not PS-mode (if you shoot entirely still images with video,
you generally won't see any difference). The number of scan
lines used in either mode is the same. If you shoot for
computer non-interlaced display, you will see the difference
only if you produce full-sized images; if half-sized, you
are throwing out alternate scan lines, and it should make
little difference if the original is shot interlaced or
PS. If you shoot video for grabbing stills and do not
need the high frame rate, you will get MUCH sharper
results shooting with a digital or film still camera.
I fail to see the appeal of PS - for me it just spoils
motion-video while providing few advantages. Why use it?
