There are two types of preview files: video and audio.
If you make no changes other than cuts and rearrangements
in the video (and are not outputting in a different form
from what the input footage was), there will normally be
no video preview files made. If your computer can keep up
with the changes (filters, level-changes, etc.) you have
made in the audio tracks, you do not need the audio
previews. You can switch a video track off, then
on to destroy all the video previews; and switch off,
then on an audio track to destroy all the audio tracks;
you can also go into the preview file folder and delete
what you want - BUT, all video transitions, filters, motion,
effects will then not play (that is what the preview files
are for - they are the rendered files that substitute
"refigured" video and audio for the original material
during playback...).
