HMMMM.....!;-) A polarizer is not a substitute for a lens shade...
And the SLR mirror is up, and not a consideration during exposure...
And the functions of a shade and a polarizer are quite different
(though I would tend to answer your last [mysterious ;-] question
with, "Yes", being not a user of polarizers for general photography
[for me, the point of taking a photo is that I like the colors and
tonal arrangements {including the reflections} that are before me -
I have little desire to introduce odd color and tonal shifts
{unless I must, to satisfy a client} into my images]).
