If the heads of your TRV9 were not out of alignment, tapes
should play back fine on most other camcorders, especially
Sony (where even LP-mode tapes interchange easily). I still
avoid mixing tape brands, or playing my brand tapes in
players that have had other brands in them, though this may
no longer cause problems... In the US, Sony's flat-rate price
for even major work is $280, making repair a
reasonable thing to do (and I had the transport and heads
replaced on my TRV9 not long ago...).
