You can copy only the motion-video, and it is in the
identical format for both - and it is no longer in
analogue-format, but a stream of 1s and 0s... In
other words, when copying through the FireWire,
you are making exact copies (barring dropouts),
of the digital information only... Further, the
video format (and "finished" pixel-count) for both
cameras is the same, regardless of the gross CCD
pixel count (some of the extra pixels are used for
higher-resolution stills, some for digital
stabilization, and some may be interpolated down
to improve motion-video characteristics...).
