Chances are the wires have somebody there if it is of world wide
interest,and the magazines would pick the shots off the wire, assign
someone, or get photos from Sygma, Sipa, Saba, Matrix, JB Pictures, and so
on.
You can contat the A.P.'s World Heaquaters in NYC at 1(212)621-1500 and
ask for the international photo desk's assignment editor.
If you have an "in" with the event or highy unusual access you might want
to contact your local bureau.
They would most likely require a portfolio, experience, tear sheets, and
prior history of you before assiging you to cover the event. An agency
might be the best way to go on this, contavt them for their arrangments.
