Because they are transfered to TV in interlaced mode...;-)
But, if you look carefully at film, you rarely see
swift pans and zooms (and most of the pans may go one way
rather than the other...). Interlaced video does camera
motion better than film, and camera motion looks really
bad in PS-mode video seen on an interlaced TV...
