Apparently, thorough washing can allow pure metalic silver to appear
on the surface of prints in time. I have heard of this being a problem with RC prints (since they are easily washed completely free of fixer),
and I have experienced it with prints I made on fiber paper about 30 years ago for a show that appeared in a museum in San Francisco.
