($150 seems a little steep for "cost" on the SB-16 shoe....)
The SB-24/5/6/7 flashes have faster recycle times, soft illumination
roll-off (the SB-24, anyway - and this is VERY useful for varying
the flash intensity within the film frame), smaller size, selectable
TTL fill-ratios (worth the price, alone!), and all make use of the
8008 flash features. The SB-26 and SB-27 are current, but a used
SB-24/5 may be a better buy... (I have seen SB-24's in nice shape
for about $175). Any ISO-footed flash will work fine on an FM-2,
though the more recent Nikon flashes listed above have more flexible
auto modes than the SB-16 (they allow the selection of a wider and
more useful range of lens apertures to be used).
Hope This Helps
