I have seen this also with Nikon FM's and FE's. My guess is that the
cameras got heated, which encouraged the lubricants to flow where
they can stick shutter blades together (happens in leaf shutters, too).
IF YOU DARE, there is a cheap cure, though it is scary (using lighter fluid and Q-Tips). I won't go into details here, since it is not for
the faint of heart, and it takes faith and patience to effect the cure,
but I have had 100% success with it, and have sent many a stuck shutter
merrily on its way fully functional without disassembly or replacement.
