They are hard to find, but 2X pre-AI Nikon converters were made
(the TC-1 and TC-2, as I recall, for shorter-than-300mm, and longer)
which used the coupling-prong system. If your lenses are AI, the
later-style converters can be used on pre-AI bodies by using
"stop-down" metering.
