It is common practice to do this, and visual and audio
events can be used to synch the tracks. Run continuous
camera mic sound, and continuous "board" sound tracks.
Be aware that the Mini-Disk track may not stay in synch,
and so must occasionally be "resynched", though. Also,
don't think of this as an "either/or" situation - my
best tracks often come from mixing together 3 or 4
audio tracks for best sound at an event, and I rarely
use just one track. The DJ sound alone will be "dry",
with no ambience, which can be added from the camera's
stereo omni mics, for instance. Run test exports of the
mix occasionally to be sure (visually, in a sound editor
like Cool Edit or Sound Forge) that no clipping has
occurred in the mix...
