Yes - I have done it, but the results were inferior to the TC300/1
on lenses I had which both fit, though the TC20E on the 80-200 f2.8
was somewhat better than the TC200/1 on that lens (I did not try it
on the 500...). You can remove the front bayonette and carefully file
off the extra tab on one of the three bayonette "wings" - it is
obvious when you compare the E bayonette with the camera bayonette
what needs to be done to make it fit non-I/S lenses.
