Guessing, but at many thousands of rpm, the heating
becomes an issue, especially with different types
of lubricants mixed. The heads in analogue gear
may be larger, and spin more slowly - and the ambient
temperature inside the analogue cameras may be lower
(some Mini-DV camcorders run quite warm...).
