There may not still be a problem, or you may be lucky
and Sony may make the Maxell tape (I don't know...).
I would buy a Sony cleaning tape along with the Sony tape,
and give the heads three passes of no more than five
seconds each in VCR-play mode (with spaces of 20-30
seconds between passes) before using the Sony tape,
and set aside the Maxell tape - to be safe. Don't use
the cleaning tape again unless there is a dropout
problem...
