Have you been mixing tape brands? This (plus the obvious
dirt...) can cause drop-outs. Do you use a head-cleaning
tape? I've been using DV camcorders fairly regularly for
about 1 1/2 years without drop-outs so far... (I've used
the cleaning tape once per camcorder, but I use a blower
at each tape change to keep the level of dust inside down.
(BTW, 90 hours is a VERY short head-life time, if true.
I've read posts of people putting FAR higher hours on
mini-DV heads without problems... I would like to know
what the average mini-DV camcorder head life is...)
