(critical...) reviews of the above, and several
other mini-DV camcorders, in an article on my

For external mics, the selection of good, cheap,
1/8th" mini-plug mics is limited, and some of the
best have been recently discontinued, alas...
Of the few still available, I've had good results
with the Sennheiser MKE-300 (not always on the
TRV-900, though - and the Sony ECM-MS908C looks
promising, so I just ordered one in place of a
discontinued Sony ECM-Z157 which I like [but
which was on back-order since last August...]).
I did not like the sound-color of the GL-1 on
the sample I tried, but an external mic should
solve that problem.
