The 908c gives a wider "sound stage" than the otherwise
good built-in mic, but the sound will not be a lot different.
It can be used on a shielded stereo mini-plug extension
cable for closer mic placement. Short-shotgun
mics can work very on-camera, used with care, and the
Sennheiser MKE-300 is decent (I sometimes use a pair of
these mono mics on a "tree" on-camera for "stereo").
