A better-sounding mic than the HS1 is likely to be
the Sony ECM-908C, a wide-angle stereo mic of
decent quality that should help a bit in reducing
your involuntary input from the rear, though it
is unlikely to do much to suppress those "V-o'-G"
comments...;-) From what I gather, the HS1 mixes
with the built-in mic, progressively less as the
lens is zoomed long (it is likely that the changing
of the "sound" of the mic with lens zooming would
generally be annoying, though, even if it otherwise
worked well). I have not tried my Sennheiser MKE-300
short-shotgun (mono) on my PC100, but its length
relative to the camera may be an issue...
