The file-size limit is for input only - you can assemble
pretty much as much material on the timeline as you want
(and combine files mid-word, if you want, for continuous
playback) with no edits needed (except for to-the-frame
matching of file ends) for seamless playback of very long
clips. If your computer cannot do this easily, I would
look into set-up problems, or get a second HD if you have
programs, preview files, and source video on the same drive
(that can still work if you defragment the drive
[long...!!!] just before playback).
