Actually, since the slide is not flat in the mount (glassless...),
I generally get better results with Nikon 50mm f1.8 lenses
(with extension, and possibly reversed...) than with the 55 macro
(you can use the field curvature to advantage...). Small stops are
required, though, with any lens for this (and possibly non-central
focusing, to better average the DOF with unflat subjects...).
