Yuh, but then you see the absurdity of F4's with cheap Promaster
zooms on them (It happens more than you would think! I kept hearing about people around here complaining about their pictures taken
with their Nikons, and sure enough.... I talked to the owner of
the local Nikon dealer about the absurdity of selling someone an
expensive body and a cheapo lens, and his response was that he wasn't going to argue with the customers - they were convinced they wanted
the fancy bodies, and couldn't afford decent lenses to go on them!). After the picture is taken, nobody cares whether it was made with an
F4, or an old beaten-up $75 Nikkormat - but the image quality (or
lack of it) remains in the image. Poor lenses limit photographers
far more than humble camera bodies, in my opinion - and it is more
likely that people switch their camera bodies more over time than
their lenses, if both are of equal quality. So this naive advisor
will continue to advise that people buy good glass (it stays "in
style" and up-to-date longer than the body does, and yes, lenses
really are what make your picture), and scrimp a bit on the body,
if necessary (there will be a new model out tomorrow).
Hope This Helps
