I'm just lost in the dark.Could u please help me?

I have a Nikon F4s + AF Nikkor 50mm F\1.4

The problem is that the aperture stucks at full occasionally!!


I mean that when I set the aperture at f16 or f11 or f8

...... then when I take the picture the lens always opens

at full aperture (f1.4)

Please advise me on this.

If you remove the lens and manually operate the aperture (by turning
the aperture ring), does it sometimes stick at f1.4? If you turn the
ring
to f16 and operate the small lever at the rear, does the aperture stay
wide-open? If so, it is a lens problem - look for oil on the diaphragm
blades (front or rear view). Also look to see if the small actuating
lever
is slightly bent, or if the "striker" bar inside the camera is bent (if
the second, all lenses should sometimes stay wide open. Either can be
carefully bent back to make proper contact - but be careful with the one
in the camera to get it straight, since a sensor in the camera uses its
position to set the proper aperture for the lens in some modes...
