Ah, there are some myths surrounding this...;-)
Two things matter: the maximum f-stop available;
and the quality of the image at that f-stop.
The physical size of the lens front is of moderate
interest, but mostly for knowing what size filters
to buy, or what size step-up rings to buy, to fit
standard-size attachments to the camcorder lens.
Bigger front does *not* mean "more light gathering",
"faster", etc.
