Any lens converter will degrade the image quality, but
good matches of very moderate converters can be relatively
"painless". Tele attachments generally stop around 2X, and
at that, they can noticeably degrade the image; adding a
10X would make it terrible, and adding the already
poor-quality digital zooming to a 10X would produce an
image of little value... BTW, some of us are more interested
in the other direction: we want to stuff as much angle of
view into the frame as we can, and fortunately for us, that
is easier to do while maintaining reasonably high image
quality...;-)
