Hmmm, "Like New", and "mint" are VERY specific condition ratings, with
no room for equivocation - they simply mean, "NO MARKS of any kind,
and no mechanical wear of any kind", period! I returned two items above,
since they did not meet the descriptions given them: the 35mm f2 and the
TC14 (the 35mm was perfect optically [and checked well on film] and
mechanically, but was missing the f5.6 clip, and had several small
marks on the barrel - I was looking for a mint sample, but this one
was more like EX+; the TC14 was fine optically and mechanically, but
had a small dent in the side and many barrel marks [it leaned toward
EX-, a subtle difference, perhaps, but for me, EX should be somewhat
prettier...]). I hasten to add that the seller was at all times pleasant
to deal with (and has "cheerfully" promised to refund my money upon
receipt of the returned gear), and that the items I received were good
buys at the prices asked in the condition they were in (especially the
TC14, which is the optically-identical AI version of the rather expensive
AIS TC14B). I was really looking for a mint 35mm f2 Nikkor, and the TC14
seemed too good a bargain to pass up. I do not think the seller lied
about the condition ratings - some people just don't see/care about
blemishes, but some of us (nuttier ;-) ones do.......
Hope This Helps
