This is not an uncommon problem with zoom lenses (and
it makes me wonder why the advice is given to focus at
the long end, then zoom short, since it often results in
incorrect focus...;-), and the more expensive video lenses
have adjustments for this. This is a fairly rare problem
with the VX2000, but not with the TRV900/VX1000 and most
other consumer-grade video cameras, and it is very common
in still-camera zooms (I used to shim them, when possible).
BTW, most Sony zoom lenses that shift noticeably from
full-tele going back to wide do not shift focus as much
(or at all) if you focus somewhat short of full tele (there
is a different sort of "zoom action" in the last 1/4 or so
of the optical range, where most of the error happens).
Also BTW, under most circumstances, the VX2000 AF is good
enough to use it instead of MF, with better results...
(or stay in MF, but use the "momentary-AF" button
during or after zooming).
I would probably look into a repair, if the focus shift
amount is quite noticeable - this is not normal for this
camera.
